Chip Spencer, a man of true community spirit, served on the Board of the Greater Litchfield Preservation Trust and the Board of the Litchfield Historical Society for decades. About ten years ago Chip purchased a teak park bench for the Historical Society’s front lawn. After years of being exposed to the elements, the bench needed some restoration. Phil Miller of the Trust arranged for a wood-worker to refurbish it. The bench is back in place with a plaque, that the Preservation Trust had custom-made, to honor both Chip’s original gift and his long years of service. We hope both residents and visitors will enjoy it.
